Abstract
The golden turbid solution of cordierite precursor was obtained by using magnesium ethoxide in sol-gel method, while the clear solution of cordierite precursor was obtained when 5%-Zr(OC©ýH?)©þ solution was used in the sol-gel reaction. SiO©ü component was confirmed by infrared spectra showing 1045 §¯?©ö and the stretching vibration of gelish SiO©þ showed 1140 §¯?©ö and 940 §¯?©ö. The component of Al©üO©ý showed at 580 §¯?©ö and network structure of Al©üO? showed at 680 §¯?©ö. The component of MgO was confirmed at 575 §¯?©ö as the stretching vibration. X-ray diffraction analysis showed ¥ì-cordierite crystal was showed up at temperature above 1000¡É at the mole ratio of cordierite precursor and water (1:5). ¥ì-Cordierite and ¥á-cordierite were coexisted at 1050¡É for the mole ratio of cordierite precursor and ammonia (1:5) while ¥á-cordierite was only existed at 1100¡É for the same mole ratio as mentioned above.
